What is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy?
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy or CBT is a talking therapy that is used widely in the NHS to help people with a range of mental health and emotional difficulties. CBT looks at how the things we think about in a particular situation affect, how we feel and then what we actually do.
We all have patterns of thinking feeling and behaving some of which are more helpful than others. The aim of the therapy is to identify your particular pattern of thinking, feeling and behaving that is causing you difficulties and then look at ways of changing this to one that is more useful for you. CBT therapists will work with you to find the right strategy and technique to help you to do this.
CBT has been found to be particularly helpful for those experiencing difficulties with feelings of anxiety and depression.
